I spent part of my afternoon attempting to gently sweet talk my shed door into holding out another winter. The poor thing has been battered by the wind and weather incessantly for about 10 years now and is (literally) barely holding on. I tacked on a few 2x's here and there with some longer screws to shore it up a bit, then replaced the screws on the upper hinge, which were almost completely pulled out. The longer ones found something in there to bite down on, so I am hoping they will last until I can completely rebuild the door. Next summer? Who knows? I put projects like this on my mental to-do list and there rarely seems to be time, money, or energy to accomplish them. But, I thought that about simply patching it up, and managed to get it done, so maybe...
I have also been gradually working to put the garden beds - at least the ones that either never got planted or are already done - properly to bed for the coming winter. Every year I imagine being able to go out in the spring, pull back a little mulch, and plant without the massive work of cleaning up from last year's negligence. I'm a little closer this year, but even though it is only early September you can almost smell winter approaching. Just keep plugging away a little at a time, I guess. Still a vast multitude of raspberry canes to cull, too.
We finished mowing and I did some trimming today, too, all the while thinking there may be just one more mowing before we can put the mower to bed for the winter, too.
I keep thinking of things to write on this blog, and then never seem to do it. Wouldn't it be cool if I could find a way to keep it up? Well, I would like that, anyway.
